Cookie policy

1. What runs, and when

Without your consent, this website runs no statistics and uses no advertising and no social media plugins. It sets one cookie of its own, and only when you sign in to My account (section 2). Before you choose, the only third-party script that loads by itself is Cloudflare’s bot check on the sign-in and waitlist forms (section 6). The support chat loads only when you open it (section 7). Fonts are served from our own domain, so your browser does not contact font services such as Google Fonts.

Usage statistics run only if you accept them in the banner (section 7). If you reject them, PostHog only counts your visit, without cookies. None of this runs in My account.

When you sign in to My account, where you see and manage the Macs you rent and your GPU slices, the site sets this cookie:

  • Name: rm_session
  • Value: your customer code and the time your sign-in ends, with our signature so that nobody can change them. It holds no password and no access details.
  • When: only when you sign in, with the link we email you or by coming back to our website after paying, which signs you in. If you never sign in, it is never set.
  • How long: 30 days, or until you sign out.
  • Who can read it: only our website. Your browser sends it only over a secure connection, and scripts on our pages cannot read it.

It is strictly necessary to give you My account, which you ask for when you sign in, so the law does not require us to ask for your consent first. To delete it, sign out of My account, or delete it in your browser’s settings.

3. Your dark-mode choice

If you click the dark-mode button, the site saves your choice in your browser’s session storage:

  • Name: theme
  • Value: light or dark
  • When: only after you click the button. If you never click it, nothing is stored and the site follows your device’s light or dark setting. The GPU slices page is always dark and stores nothing.
  • How long: until you close the tab. The browser then deletes it.
  • Who can read it: only this website, in your browser. It is not sent to us or to anyone else, and it does not identify you.

It only keeps a setting you chose, for the length of your visit. For this kind of storage the law does not require us to ask for your consent first.

You can delete it at any time by closing the tab, or in your browser’s settings.

4. Stripe pages

When you pay, or open the Stripe customer portal from My account, you go to pages on Stripe’s own domain, such as checkout.stripe.com and billing.stripe.com. Stripe sets its own cookies there, for example for security and fraud prevention, under Stripe’s cookie policy. We do not control them. Our own pages load nothing from Stripe.

5. Our hosting provider

Cloudflare delivers this website. We do not use Cloudflare features that set cookies in your browser.

6. Bot check on the sign-in and waitlist forms

To keep bots out, the sign-in form of My account and the waitlist forms, on the GPU slices page and, while orders are closed or when every Mac is rented, on the pricing page, load Cloudflare Turnstile from challenges.cloudflare.com, but only on those pages. Turnstile runs in its own frame and reads technical signals from your browser to tell people from bots. Cloudflare may store strictly necessary data for this in that frame, under Cloudflare’s Turnstile privacy addendum. It is not used for advertising or to track you across websites. Strictly necessary security measures do not need your consent.

7. The support chat, and statistics only if you accept

Support chat lets you write to us from any page, whatever you choose in the banner. Its button comes from our own website, and nothing from Crisp loads until you click it. The chat then opens in a frame from Crisp’s own website, which cannot read the page.

  • Crisp (Crisp IM SAS, France): once you open the chat, cookies starting with crisp-client in that frame, which last 6 months and keep your conversation going across pages and visits.

Usage statistics are optional. They start only after you accept them in the banner. If you leave without choosing, they are not loaded. If you reject them, they are not loaded either, except that PostHog counts your visit, as explained below. They never run in My account.

They show us which pages people visit and how they use the site. With PostHog this includes session recordings: a replay of your visit, with the pages you open, your scrolling and your clicks. What you type is hidden in your browser before anything is sent, and the support chat is left out.

  • PostHog (PostHog, Inc., with data stored in the EU): the cookie ph_<project>_posthog, which lasts 1 year, and entries starting with ph_ in your browser’s storage.
  • Google Analytics (Google Ireland Limited): the cookies _ga and _ga_<id>, which last up to 2 years. We do not use them for advertising.

If you reject statistics, PostHog counts the pages you open, without cookies and without storing anything in your browser. Nothing records your visit or your clicks. To avoid counting you twice on the same day, PostHog works out a code from your IP address and browser details with a value that changes every day, then discards the IP address.

Your choice is saved in your browser’s local storage as consent: what you chose and when. It is not sent to us or to anyone else. After 6 months we ask again. We need it to respect your choice, so it does not need your consent.

To change your mind, use Cookie settings at the bottom of any page except My account. When you take back a yes, statistics stop and we delete their cookies and stored data from your browser. Data already sent is kept for the periods in our Privacy policy.

8. Changes

If we add other cookies or similar technologies, we update this page first and ask for your consent where the law requires it.

Before you pay

Payment is handled by Stripe.

They show us how the site is used, including recordings of your visit; what you type stays hidden (PostHog, Google Analytics). These tools use cookies and start only if you say yes. You can change your mind at any time from the bottom of the page. If you say no to statistics, we only count your visit, without cookies. Cookie policy
